They Call Me Coach

Developing a More Complete Coach
What does it take to become an elite coach? The truth is there’s no exact formula. It begins with an in-depth knowledge of the game, the rules, the history, and what those before you have accomplished.

However, it takes more than that.

Great coaches are more than knowledgeable; they are passionate about the game and know that it’s more than the outcome. Sure, winning matters, but victory comes from preparation, strategy and execution. A great coach understands the needs of their team and the unique talents of each of their players, and is committed to the team and the athletes. In every sport, the coaches who set themselves apart are proud leaders, they are able to adapt and make quick decisions. Great coaches accept responsibility and learn from their victories, as well as their mistakes. Ultimately, truly elite coaches are made through hard work and dedication. They combine knowledge and experience to become the best they can be.

The goal of Ohio University’s Coaching Education program is to prepare coaches with the well-rounded skill set and knowledge they need to become elite coaches. Our courses develop your coaching potential though immediately applicable techniques and information. We can’t promise you’ll win every game or become a legend in your sport, but we can promise that our education combined with your dedication can push your coaching career to new heights.

What kind of coach do you want to become?
