A Day in the Life of an Athletic Administration Student

A Day in the Life of an Athletic Administration Student
At Ohio University our online master’s degree in Athletic Administration program is designed for active coaches and athletic administrators who not only want to become better at what they do, but also build a career as an interscholastic athletic director. The majority of the program takes place in an interactive online environment that brings the best of an on-campus education home, or to wherever you have access to the Internet.

What’s a typical day like for a student in the program? The truth is that it’s up to you, the student. The program is designed to be flexible and fit into your schedule. Each course is broken down into learning modules and assignments. Students can log into the online learning site and work through the program participating in discussions, interacting with other athletic administration students, faculty, and completing assignments when it’s convenient for them. It could be first thing in the morning before work, after work, on break, or before you go to bed. It all depends on what time works for you.

The Athletic Administration program takes about two years to complete, and we recommend that students develop a schedule and routine to complete assignments and work on their learning modules. Often concepts, techniques and knowledge that are learned during the program will be immediately implementable into a student’s daily work activities.

During the athletic administration program, one on-campus Athletic Leadership Forum is required. This mandatory 3-4 day forum takes place during the summer term and features a diverse community of administration professionals and faculty. The forum is intended to bring together all of the athletic administration students who will be taking the program in the same cohort, to meet Ohio University’s Athletic Administration faculty, and to familiarize themselves with the program while directly addressing advanced athletic direction concepts.
